I think that we are finally ready to release the beta to our developer licensed customers – fingers crossed!

I think that we are finally ready to release the beta to our developer licensed customers – fingers crossed!

What is Beta? what does it mean to you and your project?

I could give you the definition of “beta” but its easier to just say that this means that it hasn’t had enough testing yet to determine if it is stable enough or developed enough to be offered as a final release or a release that we would consider ready for all skill levels.

What to expect and a quick overview –

During the next week we plan on (with your feedback) complete all of the core code to be completely bug free and completed with all needed and required features of our core product.

When we say “Core” what we mean is that we want to make sure that everything that was in the old 2x version working is 100% working in our 3x “Core-Code”.  This means that we are NOT concerned right now about any of the other “Additional Features” or “Custom Modules” until we make sure that our base core code is 100% bug free.

Our goal is to keep the core code, necessary for basic listing management, separate from custom Modules. Custom items like our CRM, RETS, Map Search etc. will be available as “Modules”. These custom modules can be added via our admin panel’s module loader/manager. This way you can select and purchase only the Modules you want or need for your project thus keeping the core code more affordable for those that may not need or want them.

We are also considering a new method for developers looking to replace some of our core functions with their own custom code. Instead of modifying the core files, your changes would be in a separate directory so you wouldn’t lose any custom changes when upgrading to newer releases.

We are currently able to fix bugs at a rate of about 3 to 10 bugs per day, which means that we should be ready for a stable public release within a few days/week.

Final Note – We have switched all of the 3.0 Forms section to “Private Mode” so only customers that have a developers license may see them and use them – if you can’t see them after you login to the forums open up a ticket and include your forums user name and I will make sure that you have access.

Just doing some more 3.0 beta testing this weekend and we are getting very close to wrapping up all the latest MU compatibility testing that will include the following options:

Say for example you want to set up WordPress MU for a Broker/Company and they want to do all of the following scenarios.

Main site “domain.com” So WPR3 = Regular MLS install and setup – Done

Community subdomain sites “community.domain.com” So WPR3 = installed and setup using the main domains WPR3 – Done

Agent subdomain site “agent-name.domain.com” So WPR3 = Unique install and setup (includes their very own version and separate admin panel) and then ties into choice of MLS/database via our remote database settings – Done

Rentals subdomain site “rentals.domain.com” So WPR3 = Unique install and setup (includes its very own version and separate admin panel) and then allows you to manually upload your own rental properties or you can use the option that ties into another database via our remote database setting – Done

So what you end up with is a single Real Estate solution that can do it all when you combine it with WordPress-MU.

How install/setup works:
Plugin installs into WordPress MU – once activated then when someone clicks on the WP Realty menu link to open the admin panel it will to check to see if it’s already been installed for this domain/subdomain – if (no) – then it will show a prescreen that ask how to configure this install – A= share main domain or B= separate unique install.

 

More about WordPress-MU and how we use it for our client projects…

For any of you that may not be familiar with WordPress-MU the “MU” stands for Multi User and it’s really what I think makes WordPress an exceptional CMS for those that are looking for the ultimate SEO solution. I’ll just give you an example of how the SEO part plays into this so you can get an idea of just how we use it ourselves.
(Visit http://wordpress.com to get a free “yourname.wordpress.com” website and then you will see for yourself just how wordpress uses their MU.)

First the domain and how we use it for the MU – we typically look for a domain that is worded for a MU setup and here is a example domain that I already own “homescondosforrent.com” – now here are some examples of how I could use this domain “Miami.homescondosforrent.com” so as you can see I can use any “city” name and it could even be used to build specific community sites like this “PlantationLakes.homescondosforrent.com” or as an agent site “JohnDoe.homescondosforrent.com”. Not only can I set up a specific subdomain for anything I want I can also set it up with completely different Themes, and Plugins – Cool right?

Now to make this a truly awesome product we use 2 other custom MU plugins – the first one is a “Cloner Plugin” and this is how it’s used – We first setup a master subdomain typically calling it something like “master-city.homescondosforrent.com” and then what we would do is set this master clone up with 100% of all of the plugins, widgets, select the theme settings content etc. (and yes every subdomain can use a different theme if you want) because as the name says “Cloner”.  So, once we get that all done then every time we want to create a new “city-name.homescondosforrent.com” we can select our master city clone and have a 95% completed website within about 10 seconds and the remaining 5% just being the adding of some home page content that would be relevant to that city.

The second MU plugin that we use is a cool SEO widget that can be used on all of the subdomains to allow each subdomain to show the latest titles of any post from any of the other subdomains – thus giving you “do-follow” – “anchor text back links” and thus creates your own mini authority hub……don’t understand what I’m talking about? For those that understand SEO this widget is really a cool item – for those that don’t, well you’re just going to have to take my word for it that it works great for creating your own network of automated back links.

 

So there you have it –

Using WordPress-MU and our New 3.0 WordPress Real Estate Plugin will now give you a huge SEO/developers advantage over any competitor’s solutions. We are the only Real Estate Solution that can do this, and we’ve been doing it now for over 2 years using our own custom MU 2.x version on our own custom client projects so we have plenty of examples and SEO data that we have been tracking for over a year on a couple of our client projects so that we can confirm just how much more of an SEO advantage this creates.

    We will be releasing a couple of updates for our current WordPress Real Estate Plugin (2.1.3 will be released this week) as well as our WordPress Real Estate Theme (1.3 will be released later this week)… Just a quick update.

    We are also working on our new 3.0 now with a whole new team of programmers in order to try and get a production ready product within 90 days. I’ve built out a ton of new requirements for the 3.0 team to knock out so check back often for more screen shots as we get further along.

    Most of January will be spent overseeing the new 3.0 development as well as completing a long list of clients projects. We also plan on having a new “master” MLS system developed along with a new MLS API and a RETS importer script so that we can offer Developers a decent RETS import script to map in the listing fields into our new mysql tables. I like VieleRETS but its just not all that great and so we’ve decided to make some serious changes and by combining a couple of other ideas we think we’ve come up with something much better.

    Before I get into specifics, I just want to give all of you the “BEST FREE ADVICE” you can get about “Doing-It-Yourself” MLS for FREE!

    That’s Right! -     I did say FREE! …..and here’s how:

    IF YOUR INTENTION is to buy our plugin in order to build out a custom MLS then here is what you need to do before you even bother buying anything from us.

    1st Grab the last Free version of OR v2.5.8 from this site and install it:

    2nd Grab the Free version of VieleRETS and install it:

    http://vielerets.org/downloads/

    If you can make that work then you SHOULD BUY OUR PLUGIN!

    If you can get OR and VieleRETS working then it’s just a matter of exporting a few tables and pointing the VieleRETS to our plugins tables – takes about 15 to 20 min and we are glad to help out with this part if needed. Remember though that we do not offer any free support for How-To build your MLS stuff other than occasionally answering the random RETS questions in the forums (if we have time).

    All I can recommend for you to do is just install them and then do your own thing – but if you still say you need help, or that you don’t understand how it all works etc.  then you either need to do more research and post questions on relevant forums or blogs or you can simply hire a programmer – or us.  You need to be able to either do it all on your own or you need to hire someone – simple as that, don’t ask us for free beer or free labor but feel free to ask us for advice …..remember this isn’t easy and it’s why we charge 800.00 to build custom MLS solutions.

    Now on to the rest of the Q & A’s
    We get asked all the time about “If” our plugin will work with IDX or RETS feeds and the answers will vary depending on the circumstances so I’ve put together a collection of the most common Q & A’s.

    • Question – Does your plugin work with my IDX?
    • Answer – Yes but only if “We” handle the entire project or if you hire a programmer – >reason< is because there isn’t any “free” scripts to handle the mapping and formatting of all the data fields therefore one has to be created to fit the situation.
    • Question – Does your plugin work with RETS?
    • Answer – Yes you can download the Free VieleRETS from http://vielerets.org and then follow the instructions found on the internet and also in our forums here at http://wprealty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=173 – Keep in mind however that we do not offer support for this due to fact that this is not a “support service” that we are selling.
    • Question –  Can I hire you guys to build a mls solution for me on my own server?
    • Answer – No, we do not build out MLS solutions on anyone else’s servers but ours and if we are hired to build the MLS we also require that the site be hosted on our servers for 60.per month – but we give you 100% access to the site and the Cpanel server  just like it was your own hosting account because it really is yours to do with as you see fit. We also guarantee all required MLS upgrades will be made free and is included with hosting.

    What’s New In 2.0.9 -

    This version is basically just an upgrade and includes some much needed improvements to the new form builder to allow for more customization that can now include individual html & css for each form.

    1.    Unlimited Custom forms with custom html/css template options.

    3.    New optional on [submit] redirect url.
    4.    Custom html forms are stored in your site /wprealty/template/your-template/forms/

    We have also tried to fix the install.php to prevent random re-writes to the mysql so we made this version automatically remove the file when activating the plugin – the only negative for this is going to be if the plugin does not install properly the first time then the install.php will need to need to be manually re-uploaded to try to retry the install.
